I remember goons as those scary characters from the old cartoon days. I think it was Popeye and Olive Oil who would run into the goons now and again - lanky, scary creatures. I didn't realize at the time but I guess she's right, they were frogs.
Katherine L. Hester's short stories have been published in Prize Stories: The O. Henry Awards, American Short Fiction, Five Points, The Yale Review, Southwest Review and other journals.
